Also, getting the copy for Mothership onto 125x125 may not be possible. If that's the case Matt, let's consider only doing 300x250 and 160x600

Hi there, Thanks Matt!

I have a few comments. I'm not too familiar with affiliates, so again I'll let Chelsea make the final call on some of these, but wanted to share the feedback for discussion:

>> general:

* I know we tried to cut down copy for these, but Chris has mentioned that he'd really like to lead with "messenger"... "facebook messenger" wherever possible.

* some of these feel too simple, they're not telling me much other than "get firefox" - which I'm assuming points to the custom landing page. This is fine, but can we create a few version that drive clicks directly to the activation page or the custom tab? sometime that more clearly highlights "facebook messenger" either in copy or in the visuals - or both.

* we could also try dialing up the orange - or cropping in a FF logo to balance things out while we highlight facebook more -> through copy and perhaps through the jewels.

Looks good. Are we not going to add a CTA or clickable cue on this?
Does this point to the Custom Tab?

Can we make sure the "messenger" is properly aligned?
Does this point to the custom download page?

Not a fan of this one. The aspect ratio of this one doesn't lend itself nicely to the content that we have. Do we absolutely need this size? feels like the hero is basically lost and the rest of the banner is rather bland.

Looks good - does this point to the custom download page?
Here is the copy guide for reference: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=811554

I'm wondering why "Get Firefox" is the primary message here vs. the other key benefits or the feature name itself.

Chelsea / Matej - please advise and lets iterate as needed asap. Thanks.
These are starting to look really good. Some feedback

On the 300x216 Facebook buttons, remember that they will be reduced to 100x72 as a preview image in people's feeds. "Make Firefox more social" is likely the only amount of copy we can have in that one.

I like the version including the hero graphic, but would need to see what that looks like at 100x72 in terms of readability.

I really like use of the Firefox logo in the latest 160x600 revs. I think it makes the buttons a lot more attractive.

Another thing to flag is that affiliate buttons can live on people's websites or blogs for months and years. I worry about the use of the "new" snipe considering this. Also, since we're so compressed for space, it could be a good element to drop.

I also like the way the 125x125 buttons look with Facebook Messenger for Firefox is here, but am again concerned about the longevity of the buttons.

Thanks!
C
Thanks Chelsea

So is the intention here to have affiliate buttons with a longer shelf life? or buttons to capture the excitement and immediate cta of the launch? I thought it was more of the latter. Otherwise these would become generic "get firefox" buttons with the messenger hook and we'd be pointing them to the custom download page. That's fine but I wanted to make sure I'm clear so that we provide the right copy and design for these graphics. It'll also help us figure out the balance between the Firefox vs. Facebook elements.

The ones I like and can approve right now are:

* https://bug805581.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=681764

Matt: I suggest we stick to the blue backgrounds on these - they are stronger than the orange. Thanks.
Thanks Matt - but please lets pause a moment until we have clear direction on the graphics --> CTA and content before cranking through variations.

Chelsea, can you please help clarify and respond to the above questions (comment #20). Thanks.
(In reply to Tara (musingt) from comment #20)

Hey Tara,

It would be the former for sure. Sorry for the confusion. These elements live on blogs and websites for a long time.

Sounds good to me. Also, if you want to do this in two colours, we can easily have the button available in more than one colour in the system.

Thanks!
